Smelly Jelly

Smelly Jelly is an exciting relay game that is great for Easter or any other time of the year.

PREP TIME – 5-10 minutes

ITEMS NEEDED – Jelly Beans, Fake Easter Grass, Kiddie Pool (or one bucket per team)

GAME TIME – 5-10 Minutes

PARTICIPANTS – Everyone, teams of 6-10

INSTRUCTIONS

Make sure to set up before you start so you’re ready to go when it’s game time. Simply buy a plastic or inflatable kiddie pool, dump some jelly beans in it and then fill it up with fake Easter grass. If you don’t have a kiddie pool, you can use a bucket for each team.

Have teams line up an equal distance away from the pool (so teams are all around the pool). You can use a piece of tape to denote the starting line, or anything else that you have lying around.

Next, have teams line up in a single file line behind the starting line. Everyone will then take off their shoes & socks. The goal of the game is for each team to pick up as many jelly beans from the pool using only their feet, hence the name Smelly Jelly.

Once they have successfully picked up a jelly bean (or multiple jelly beans) from the pool, they will then need to hold onto them and bring them back to the starting line. When they jelly bean is across the line, the next person will go. Every jelly bean that makes it across the line will be added to the teams tally.

Whichever team can gather the most jelly beans in five minutes is declared the winner!

BONUS TIPS

1. Make sure to put plenty of jelly beans in the pool. The more teams you have, the more you will need.

2. Give away jelly beans as a prize to the winning team. They have a lot of fun flavors out there, so have fun handing out prizes.

3. Have a small bowl or cup near the starting line so that the jelly beans can be kept in one spot and counted easily.

4. You may have some people who don’t want to play, so have them take video and pictures. Have them post it to social media and ask them to tag you or your group. Pics on your page are great, but having other people do it is even better!
