Local Landmark Scavenger Hunt

Local Landmark Scavenger HuntWe continue our 40 scavenger hunts going with an exciting Local Landmark Scavenger Hunt courtesy of Ray Hintz and StuMinStuff!

As we’ve shared before, scavenger hunts are great way to build camaraderie among teams and enjoy an afternoon among smaller groups. Today, we are sharing a scavenger hunt list of suggestions that allows you to tailor it specifically for your city or town.

We always suggest that you give a few dollars to your drivers to cover gas money and if you are playing over the course of an afternoon, throw in a stop at a local restaurant or food joint as well.

Over the next 40 days, we will be sharing one scavenger hunt each day, but if you absolutely can’t wait to see them all or want them all in one place, you can download the Kindle version on Amazon!

Today, we continue our scavenger hunt list with a Local Landmarks Scavenger Hunt.

PREP TIME – 5 minutes

ITEMS NEEDED – PDF Printouts for Each Team, Camera (on phone), Prizes (optional)

GAME TIME – 2-3 Hours

PARTICIPANTS – Everyone (Teams of 4-5)

Print the Local Landmark Scavenger Hunts before you start. Once your group arrives, take a moment to determine how many teams you will need, separate your group into teams. Make sure drivers know the area and drive safely as well!

Give each team a list of items to look for and send them out. Make sure to give them a time in which they need to be back.

Once they arrive back from the hunt, have them bring in their items to be scored one by one. Keep a record of their points and announce the top scores to the entire group, concluding with the winning team!

1. Since you’re outdoors for a good period of time, make sure groups have plenty of sunscreen.

2. Create an excel sheet for the items on the list and a breakout for the score. If you are unable to do so, have someone set it up. This will greatly expedite the tallying process. If you have a large group, have multiple people tallying scores.

3. Post the best pics online and create your own hashtag for the group. Let everyone appreciate the experience!

4. In addition to the scavenger hunt list, add some text clues to meet at certain locations at designated times for bonus points.
