If you’re looking for a next level game, Mashup is the game for you! It’s crazy, hilarious, and tons of fun. Oh, and did we mention food is involved!
PREP TIME – 30Â Minutes
ITEMS NEEDED – Food Items (listed below), Garbage Can (recommended)
GAME TIMEÂ – 10-20Â Minutes
PARTICIPANTSÂ – Minimum of 2 Teams of 5-10 (the more teams the better!)
INSTRUCTIONS
Before you play, you will need to determine how many teams you have (choose volunteers for this one!) and what foods you’re going to include. Make sure that all the food is readily available and even visible to the audience. This will create an anticipation for what’s coming next!
You will also need to have each list of foods (the outside) in one container (hats work well) and the inside foods in the other container. You will then draw one from each and the participants must take the inside item and put it in between the outside item you select.
They then have 60 seconds to see who can either finish the item or eat the most. If they have it in their mouth when time expires, they have an additional 30 seconds to swallow it. If they are unable to finish the item in 30 seconds, they are awarded one point for attempting to eat the mash up.
Once you have at least two equal teams, you will have one member from each team step up to the front as you select the two items at random. At that time, they will then stand in front of everyone and do their best to finish as much of the mashup as they can in one minute. Have bottles of water on hand in case they need it.
Some of our suggestions are below, but be creative and have fun, understanding the willingness of people in your group.
OUTSIDE
- Crunchy Taco Shell
- Soft Taco Shell
- Slice of Bread
- 2 Chips Ahoy (or other kind) Cookies
- Slice of Pizza (fold like a taco)
- 2 Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
- Waffle (fold like a taco)
- Pancake (fold like a taco)
- Pita Pocket
- Hot Dog Bun
INSIDE
- Hard Boiled Egg
- Pickle
- Tuna Fish
- Mac and Cheese
- Banana
- Mashed Potatoes
- Fruity Pebbles
- Peanut Butter
- Scoop of Ice Cream
- Pop Rocks
Teams are awarded points based upon their finish. For example, if you have three teams, the winning team gets 3 points, second gets two points and so on. The only time they are not awarded a point is if they do not attempt to eat the item. Whatever team has the most points at the end of the rounds is the winner! If you have a tie, select one final mashup and see who finishes first.
We don’t get super gross with the game, though tuna between two Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups isn’t exactly tasty, but if you want to take it up a notch, feel free to do so. As we mentioned, creativity is key, so have fun!
BONUS TIPS
1. Have a garbage can nearby for all the leftovers.
2. Elevate participants so they are easily seen by the audience.
3. Record it all and take lots of pics! Tag everyone and put it on social media to share the craziness with everyone.
4. Have some upbeat or dramatic music pumping while they eat. A little Eye of the Tiger to start off is great!
5. Award the winning team one of the items you used in the game as their prize!
